No, at this time we do not currently have a shuttle service or an airport location. Most of our customers utilize Uber, Lyft, or the hotel shuttle services to get into Waikiki from the airport.
Locations: Whether you are arriving at our Niu Street location or Seaside Avenue location, please contact us for pick up and drop off instructions. The process varies depending on the location.
Airport: At this time we do not have a shuttle service or an airport location.
Typically, we prefer that the rental vehicles be returned during normal business hours.
If you want to return a vehicle when the location is closed, you must check with the rental agent when picking up your vehicle to determine the “after hours drop box” process. Doing so will help you avoid additional charges.
Please Note: A vehicle that is returned after hours will not be checked in until the next business day. If returning after hours when the location is closed, the customer is responsible for the vehicle until the satisfactory check in of the rental vehicle the next business day.
To start the process of renting from 808 Smart Car Rentals, you will need the following:
- To be 25 years old (If you’re under 21-24, you may be required to pay an underaged driver’s fee).
- A valid driver’s license with a photo.
- A major credit card.
- Proof of car insurance (If you do not have car insurance, we can offer you options at the time of pickup).
No. The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21 years of age. If you are between the ages of 21 and 24, an underage renter fee may be applied to your rental. Renters 21 through 24 years of age may also be restricted to specific car classes.
Yes, a deposit is required to rent a car from 808 Smart Car Rentals. The deposit amount varies by the reservation. To find out how much a deposit would be for your trip, start a reservation, and the cost of the deposit will be listed with the charges.
Yes, an additional driver will incur a daily fee. Any additional authorized drivers must appear at time of rental and meet the age and driver’s license requirements. An additional charge of $10.00 per day for each additional authorized driver will be added to the cost of the rental.

If your flight is delayed and you are unable to pick up your reservation on time, please contact us as soon as possible to make arrangements for a later time or the next day to avoid charges.

Debit/Check Cards:
- Any non-credit cards bearing the VISA®, Mastercard®, or Discover® logos.
- At our locations, debit cards are only accepted at the time of rental, with a major credit card listed on file. The name and address shown on the renter’s driver’s license must match their current home address. Active-duty military personnel are exempt from address requirements. Other than the renter’s spouse or domestic partner, no other additional drivers are allowed. If using a debit card for any amounts owed, the available funds in the account associated with the renter’s debit card will be reduced by those amounts. Additionally, the renter is responsible for any overdraft fees incurred.
NOTE: Prepaid cards or any other non-credit cards without one of these logos are not accepted.
Yes, you can if you don’t want to make stops. If you want to stop and visit sites or soak in the views, you will need more than one day. That’s why we offer a 3-day special. To find out more, email us at [email protected] or simply book your 3-day reservation and the special will automatically be applied.
Yes! In order to get you in the right direction and to make sure your rental is extended correctly, please contact the location where you picked up your rental.
Please note:
- At this time, the only way to extend your rental is to call us.
- When extending a rental, the rental agent will need to place an additional authorization on your credit card.
- Your rates are subject to change based on your rental extension.
- It is not guaranteed that we will be able to extend your rental, if you previously made reservations.
At 808 Smart Car Rentals, we do not charge customers more for returning a vehicle early; however, there are no refunds. You will still be charged for the number of days you had in the original rental agreement.
We do offer a 30-minute grace period for daily (24 hours) rentals.
If you return the vehicle one hour or more from the time it was rented on a subsequent day, you will be charged for an additional day of rental, unless otherwise communicated with a rental agent.

808 Smart Car Rentals is pet friendly and pets are allowed in rental vehicles with a pet carrier.
However, customers must return their rental car in clean condition and free of pet hair to avoid cleaning/detailing fees. Service animals used by customers with disabilities are allowed in the vehicle without a carrier.
YES! If you have your own valid auto insurance, you are welcome to use it. Otherwise, we can provide collision damage waiver for a nominal fee.
Yes! We are known for our 3-DAY SPECIAL. To find out more about the special, email us at [email protected] or simply book your 3-day reservation, and the special will automatically be applied.
Yes, we do offer a 10% discount for all military and Hawaii residents. However, this discount can only be used on regular daily rates. The discount can not be applied to any specials.
No, we do not have a partnership agreement with AARP at this time.
No, we do not offer a discount for AAA membership, but we continue to offer competitive rates.
No, all 808 Smart Car Rentals come with unlimited mileage.
Yes, we do have GPS units available for rent upon request.
808 Smart Car Rentals does NOT offer parking. Customers are responsible for parking and any fees or charges imposed by any parking facility. However, the Waikiki Monarch Hotel (444 Niu St.) offers a discounted parking rate with an 808 Smart Car Rentals rental agreement.
Yes! We offer both boosters and car seats for an additional fee. You can add this at the time of booking your reservation or during pick up.
